The X-Men have gone badass….or have they?
This review looks at Uncanny X-Men issues #1-5, the new re-booted series. While this series is a few issues behind the All-New X-Men title, the story is running in parallel with that title, the counterpoint to the fresh faced retro team. Uncanny follows Cyclops and his renegade team of Emma Frost, Magik, and Magneto (now in a white outfit, wtf!), as they start their own school for gifted youngsters, supposedly trying to carry on Professor X’s legacy. The only minor hindrance is that the government is trying to hunt down Cyclops, why you ask? Oh for killing Professor X, no big. How could he hurt captain Picard!! That bastard!
But let’s get to the point okay, Magik is the reason why everyone should be reading this title. Not Emma “look at dem boobs” Frost or Magneto in his fancy new digs, gurls…it’s all about Colossus’s ’lil kid sister. But if you’re at all familiar with Magik, something is different this time around for Illyana Nikolievna Rasputina, bitch is half demon! Or something to that effect, I’m not exactly sure, but I’m still figuring it out, that may have happened a long time ago, but I ain’t got a clue. Anyways, she’s effing cool!

If you’re not reading All-New X-men then I would say you might want to pass on this title. Otherwise if you are, you better be reading this too, it’s the darker and sexi side to the X-Men. I mean Emma’s boobs alone should have their own school for gifted boobs, amirite?
The writing is fun, it’s more of Brian Michael Bendis’ wit and endless text bubbles. I think he does a pretty good job with the story before him. The art on the other hand is a bit divisive I personally like parts of Chris Bachalo’s artwork, sometimes he does super lazy drawings in the backgrounds, where peoples faces are just squiggles. But he definitely has a style that I can get into, other people are really turned off to him though. Especially with the repetitive female uniforms with the exposed middle breast region, I mean srsly what’s up with that? Peoples exhibit A, B, C, D, E, etc. It’s like melons on display…I hope they’re organic.
