The Qoopa Klub podcast is officially one year old. Our first episode was published on July 1st, 2012. This is *kind* of a lie, because our actual first episode was published on June 18th. It was dreadfully bad, so we removed it and rebooted, and everyone was happy.
I never thought I’d be doing a podcast. Like, ever. I don’t think of myself as an interesting fellow. I think my voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard, if I’m being honest. I tend to ramble, my opinions about gaming change like the weather in Chicago, etc. But here we are! I met Phil on the GayGamer.net forums and we started IMing back and forth, and I thought it would be a fun experiment to do a gaming podcast with all gay menz. I had known Jancko and Ian for a little while and asked them if they wanted to give it a shot, and yay! They did!
We’ve recorded 25 episodes since then (actually iTunes says we have 30 items, so IDK LOL GDE), we’ve added people to the crew, had guests on, and even somehow found our way to the ears of people we’ve never actually met. Our audience might be small (tell your friends about us! ) but podcasting is so much fun, I think I’d try to find a way to do it even if only I listened to it.
Thanks to doing the show, I’ve made some seriously kick ass new friends and have bonded with the QK crew on a whole other level. The other awesome thing about the show, and being the editor of said show, is that I know now what I want to do with my life. Yeah, I’m a late bloomer, but whatever. I’ll make it work. I want to learn more about editing, specifically radio/broadcasting stuff. I know I’m not super good or knowledgeable about it, but I REALLY want to be better. It’s the only hobby I have that I feel learning the technical aspects would add to my enjoyment. I don’t want to know how music and film “work,” I like the mystery, thanks. So yeah, I’m going to be pursuing schooling in this field, hopefully sooner rather than later. That’s a big deal for me.
This is bordering on rambling, so I’ll end it here: if you’ve ever listened to what we do on our silly little show, even if it was only once and because one of us begged you to check it out……thank you.
Here’s to another year.
